THE NATIONAL PET SHOW | LONDON

29.5.16

On 7th May my friend, Chloe and I popped on the train to London and headed to the ExCeL in London for the first National Pet Show of 2016.

The event is huge and full of everything you could imagine!
Every kind of pet from reptiles to horses, donkeys and fish and every dog breed you could imagine - but not enough pugs. Definitely not enough pugs.

Equipped with out complimentary Show Guide, we planned out day starting with Noel Fitzpatrick's (from Channel 4's The Supervet) presentation interview at the Eukanuba Theatre.

Noel and his dog Kiera and Noel's Foundation 'The Humanimal Trust'

Although Noel was late due to the London traffic the interview was opening, and he is as inspiring as you'd imagine. Talking about his patients, his new cancer specialist unit and his foundation 'The Humaninmal Trust' about bridging the gap between human and animal surgery techniques and prosthetics Chloe and I both left feeling like we'd met a true inspiration and a serious hero.

The show itself is full of everything an animal lover needs with information areas, shopping stands to buy everything from dog food to rabbit castles and everything in between.

We saw every animal and I held as many as I possible could, and I think I've fallen in love with snakes and millipedes - words I never thought I'd write together in a sentence.

As well as petting areas there are also many mini shows where you can watch everything from the 'Superdogs LIVE' finals to trainers and their pets, dancing dogs and competitions.

There is all sorts from the weird to the wonderful.
All kinds of dog breeds from Czechoslovakian Wolfdog's to the Chinese Crested, celebrity dogs from your favourite TV adverts and social media sensations.

Tips and tricks from the breed associations with help on the best breed for you, or caring for your hairy breed to meeting the hairless breeds.

Meet Betsy Boo 'the amazing frisbee dog' and her owner who showed off their unique trick at the IAMS stand!
Celeb dog Lulu the Pomeranian weights just 4lbs and you may notice her from We Buy and Car's Video.
Chloe and I has so much fun, there was so much to do and see.
The National Pet Show is being held at the NEC in Birmingham on 6th/7th November 2016 so if you'd like to attend you can find ticket information here
See you there!

But in June at 2 locations you can go to DogFest hosted by Supervet's Noel Fitzpatrick in Cheshire 18th/19th June or Window 25th/26th June and join in with all kinds of dog related fun!

DogFest 2016 hosted by Noel Fitzpatrick from C4's Supervet,
I really enjoyed the day and can't wait for DogFest and The National Pet Show in November as well!
If you want to watch my YouTube Video of the day then you can click here and watch what we got up too!

MAKEUP TIPS FOR GLASSES WEARERS

25.5.16

Just because you wear glasses or contacts doesn't mean you can't rock the latest makeup trends or even create your own. I've created some easy tips for glasses wearers whether you're a confident makeup artist or new to the beauty world.
Here's some of my Top Tips for some stunning glasses worthy makeup looks.

DO YOU WEAR CAT EYE STYLE FRAMES?
If you're fabulously stylish and wear cat-eye style frames, then the fe-liner flick is perfect for you!
With your glasses already emphasising the gorgeous contours of your face and eyes, why not ad a subtle or statement feline flick with a black liquid eyeliner and turn yourself into a gorgeous pinup, and give yourself more an of 50's fabulous makeup look.

For Feline Flick Beginners, I recommend 'The Curve' Liner Pen from NYX (£12.00)

DO YOU WEAR ROUND FRAMES?
Round retro style frames are a hot style right now! I even have a pair myself from Glasses2You.
With round frames you see a lot of the eye, so a statement eye is the perfect makeup look paired with your stylish frames.
Try 'The Twiggy' use Liner to draw 60's lashes on the bottom lash line with a pair of short/thick false eye lashes. If you're feeling brave!
Why not add a bold eye shadow shade in true 60's style!

If you're looking for some round Frames try the 'Jossy' Frames from Glasses2You or Carrera Sunglasses from Feel Good Contacts.
DO YOU WEAR THICK RIMMED FRAMES?
If you wear thick frames, then go for a subtle eye and a statement lip.
You can't go wrong a cream eye shadow base and a bold lip, with a shade like MAC Russian Red or Ruby Woo.

DO YOU WEAR COLOURED FRAMES?
If you're bold and beautiful and own coloured frames, why not pair them with a matching lip!
If you've got pink frames, support a bold lip in a colour like MAC Candy Yum Yum.
Or if you're really adventurous and want all kinds of coloured lip options check out ColourPop.

They're my Top Tips for people who are buying glasses and contact lenses online and wearing some amazing makeup looks that a quick and simple but stunning.
Let me know your favourite makeup look to wear with your glasses and if you have any top tips of your own!

SUPERMARKET CHIC | SS16

22.5.16

If you're a StyledbyCharlie.com regular you know I love a bargain. I love shopping around to find the best product for the best price. One bargain hunting tip I stand buy is Supermarket Clothing.

I'm forever recommending friends to head to their local ASDA, Sainsbury's, M&S and Tesco to pick up Fashion Week worthy pieces that could definitely be mistaken for Designer.

So, here's my SS16 Supermarket Chic recommendations.
Get a Summer Savvy wardrobe on a budget!

Floral Pinafore | Shop: http://goo.gl/ca0b95

Pinafore's are something I've loved and loathed over the years due to the fact on my first day of primary school I couldn't wait to get dolled up in my pleated grey pinafore and buttoned up blouse, to arrive at school to find it was non-uniform-day and then forever being 'the girl who wore the pinafore'.
But with 70s fashion huge right now there are some amazing designs out there.
This gorgeous Floral Pinafore is only £18 and a great investment piece that can be styled in many ways.
Dressed up with a shirt and heel, or down with a tshirt and plimsole.

Paisley Culotte Jumpsuit | Shop: http://goo.gl/aDI9Zr     Suede Biker Jacket | Shop: http://goo.gl/8sCr0n

Another style that gives me serious throwbacks to my cousin and best friends Brownie Uniforms; Culottes.
However, I'm absolutely obsessed with culotte jumpsuits right now and think they're going to be serious HOT the summer.
I'd pair this £18 Paisley Jumpsuit with stunning keyhole back detailing, with this totally amazing Suede Biker Jacket from your local supermarket and finished with a pair of chunky heels sandals.

Denim Pinafore | Shop: http://goo.gl/5P87DG     Striped Tee | Shop: http://goo.gl/469woq

Another pinafore trend is the dungarees style buttoned denim pinafore which I can't get enough of.
Paired with a striped tee, backpack and pair of converse for the ultimate american teen look.
Love it!

50's Eliza Shift Dress | Shop: http://goo.gl/CmuwRM

One of my favourite patterns growing up has always been paisley but to see paisley in this bright and happy colouring with black colour block detailing on this amazing 50's style shift dress is so refreshing.
This is sure a wardrobe staple you can dress up or down.
The high neck feature, pockets and tied back just complete this stunning design.
You'd have no idea it wasn't designer.

Crochet Blouse | Shop: http://goo.gl/Rc4vZc     Geometric Trouser | Shop: http://goo.gl/L8AaZk

A patterned tapered trouser is so fattering!
Whether it's work or casual wear they too can be worn in so many different ways for different occasions.
This summer though, I love a bit of Boho.
Floaty sleeves, crochet and laced details.
These two pieces are the perfect pair for taking a casual top and smart trouser for a unique bold look.

Vintage Floral Maxi Dress | Shop: https://goo.gl/S8ymIv

Off the shoulder items are huge this season.
But this Vintage Floral Maxi really caught my eye.
I love the ruffle and cinched in layers.
It flatters the shoulders, arms and waist and elongated the figure with the maxi length.
I'm obsessed with this blushed salmon shade too it looks vintage and super high end.
For only £18 it's a must have for Summer.

So, they are my Supermarket Chic budget fashion bargains for SS16!
Let me know in the comments what bargains you've found in the supermarket clothing sections recently and what you're up to this summer!

SPRING SUNDAY AFTERNOON

18.5.16

Beginning we 8 days off and spiring holiday with a day at the Welland Vale Garden Centre, Uppingham.
I've never visited the garden centre having lives in Rutland (and surrounding) my whole life and I presumed it was much smaller that it actually is.

After visiting a Dog Shelter with my Grandad and Uncle, we all stopped by the Garden Centre and it's absolutely beautiful!
A large car park, and several greenhouses full of plants, garden accessories and even a shop for homeware and much more.

Also on site at Welland Vale is The Orchard Café.
Another deceivingly large building that also includes a Gallery.

Spacious decor and seating with casual arm chairs and restaurant style tables and chairs.
A lovely open large counter with fresh and local produce.

The Orchard Café have a gorgeous menu full of variety with cold offerings and even a Sunday Lunch, breakfasts, alcohol and afternoon tea options.

I'm a huge fan of local produce and the Orchard Café have a stunning large dresser full of conserves and juices. As well as 'Old Tom' Gin, Sloe Gin and even Raspberry and Salted Caramel Vodkas.

The cake selection was mouth watering, with everything from Victoria Sponges and Banana Bread to Muffins, Coffee Cake and Gluten Free Carrot Cake.
Mmmm.

I love a good selection of local ales - not for myself but it always keeps my Dad happy!
It's nice to see the Grainstore's Ales in as many local locations and pubs as possible.

Lets be honest, a café that offers alcohol?
Cherry on top!

After reading the option of Sunday Lunch, Tom instantly ordered.
I decided on the Egg, Cress and Paprika sprinkled Sandwiches which were £6.50.
Much to my delight - as I initially thought that was quite steep for a sandwich - it arrived with crisps, coleslaw and a salad.
It was delicious.

Tom ordered the Beef but had a choice of Beef or Chicken.
He said it was lovely and it disappeared very quickly.

The café decor is lovely and the layout is perfectly spaced.
My Grandad has a hearing aid and different public locations can sometimes be difficult with other peoples conversation or music.
The Orchard didn't effect his hearing and was helped by the clever spacing and tall ceilings.

At the back of the café is an Art Gallery of Peter Baker's paintings.
It's so lovely to walk around a stunning gallery.
I want them all.

Such a lovely spontaneous afternoon with my family, before we go on holiday.
It was also a rare day where I wore my hair down, it's been ages.
Even though my brother likened me to Humpty Dumpty today I felt relaxed and ready for the sunshine.
I also wore a new Mascara from Laura Mercier (that I can't find online... It may be new!) which I'm extremely impressed with.

I'm really enjoying sharing my days/weekends in a blog post format.
Let me know what you got up to on your weekend and where your favourite café to go to is.

Charlie xo

SWIMWEAR | SS16

15.5.16

It's that time of the year when the weather has finally picked up and we can't start preparing for our long awaited summer holidays. As always can't wait to get our statement swimwear for the year!

This season there are some amazing styles hitting the shelves with colour, texture, unique designs and  some more vintage throwbacks that we can't get enough of!

Here's my Summer 2016 Swimwear Must Haves!

Black Cut Out Bikini | Bralet - http://goo.gl/6e6d9Y High Waisted Bottoms: http://goo.gl/66eZ7x

I love a high waisted bikini.
They are so figure flattering and as long as you accept the fact you're going to get extremely weird tan lines, but look stylish in the process I think they're the swimwear to have.
This cutout Bralet and Bottoms set is gorgeous. I love the macramé effect and halter neck details.

Candelford & Rosenwyn High Waist Bikini | Bottoms: http://goo.gl/6h4mHT Top: http://goo.gl/c0Y9Hb
Summer wouldn't be complete without a bit of Jack Wills now would it?
You can't have Jack Wills without the signature blue and pink stripes.
This bikini is gorgeous. The casual triangle top which is good for small or the biggest breasted ladies, and the vintage style high waisted bottoms are colourful and flattering on all body shapes and sizes.

Navy Swimsuit with Lacing | http://goo.gl/egShqN
One of my favourite trends this season is eyelet lacing.
It's so chic and different whether your busty or not it's a trend I'm a huge fan of.
This navy swimsuit I absolutely love, although you wouldn't be able to wear any low cut tops for a while, unless you're after a zigzag tan line!

V Neck Swimsuit | http://goo.gl/E0FZrh
The caged chest detail was a trend of a couple of years ago but it's another one I think will stand its ground. With a sport feel and racer back this black swimsuit will show off all your summer body assets in a sports chic way.

Watermelon Crochet Bikini | Top: http://goo.gl/AWwBBM Bottoms: http://goo.gl/zSFqz2
I'm obsessed with this bikini, and the fact you can bag it this season for only £24 is a must-must have.
The crochet and watermelon style give it a homemade and humoured feel but so unique and high end. It's chic novelty and I can see this selling out very, very quickly.
I need it!
Pink Sequin Cactus Swimsuit | http://goo.gl/cjXrsd
Sequins and Swimwear? A match made in heaven.
This baby pink swimsuit is totally amazing.
Cactus' are here, there and everywhere this season and I love it!
You're sure to stand out in this amazing swimsuit and glitter the beach away with the gorgeous sequin detailing.
So cool!
Vintage Floral Halterneck Swimsuit | http://goo.gl/iLn6ll
Vintage swimsuit is something I absolutely love!
This gorgeous high waisted, halter neck, knot bralet swimsuit is so Marilyn, and the vintage floral and black colour block just shout 60s throwback.
I'm definitely going to invest in this timeless piece this summer.

So, that's my 2016 Swimwear Must Haves!
Let me know in the comments what beachwear trend you're excited about this summer and where you're going on your holibobs.
Have a good one!
