LILY'S KITCHEN - A REVIEW
27.3.16
Since we got Arla in November we've tried her on lots of wet, grain free, healthy food.
However, we always come back to Lily's Kitchen.
As Pug's can get overweight very easily, I've always been very confident about finding the right food for her that's both healthy and nutritious.
Lily's Kitchen (inspired and name after the founders Dog, Lily) was inspired by the world of pet food, that's dominated by conventional processed foods.
"Lily’s Kitchen combines the wholesome goodness of natural ingredients with the expert nutrition of a veterinary-approved diet. They work tirelessly with kitchens to source high qualityingredients; with vets and nutritionists to create brilliantly balanced recipes; and with dedicated producers to gently cook meals in small batches without losing their nutritional integrity."
HEALTH BENEFITS:
1. Helps support a robust immune system
2. A healthier weight
3. Reduced wind, and regular firm poo

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT LILY'S KITCHEN:

We highly recommend Lily's Kitchen as a brand.
You can buy their products from supermarkets, however I highly recommend their website.
You can view the whole Lily's range with all the treats, wet/dry food even Lily's Kitchen's Cook Book!
But I always love getting their selection boxes.
Such a good way to get everything you need for your pooch, delivered straight to your door.
They also regularly have discount promo codes to use too!
So definitely sign up to their newsletter!

£1 SKINCARE
23.3.16
This month in PoundStretcher I found a New Skincare Product that I've been absolutely loving that was only £1.00.
I found this Garnier Skin Essentials Oil Control Fairness Cream that I'd never heard before, and thought for £1 that I'd definitely give it ago.
As I have dry skin and suffer from dry areas that arise quickly and are intensely dry as I also suffer from a skin condition called Pityriasis Rosea. I'm always on the look our for new skincare products that help maintain a healthy glow to my skin and minimise the dry patches.
But most importantly, I'm always searching for that right product that is also affordable, and thats what seems to be the challenge.
I bought this product because it was £1 and honestly, wasn't expecting much.
Especially when I read the box and read 'oil trapping technology' realising I have dry, not oily skin..
However, also mentioned on the box is that the product includes lemon essence and has fairness control which lightens your skin - perfect for acne and dark areas.
I've been lucky and don't have any acne scars or skin damage from spots but I do have sensitive and dry skin.
However, my skin is in really good condition at the moment from my strict skincare routine (see blog post), which I've recently adapted and it's left my skin feeling healthy and hydrated.
Although, it doesn't seem like Garnier's Oil Control Cream is suited my skin type, since I've been using it it really has worked wonders.
I feel this product works like a primer as well as a hydrator, it treats and primes my skin.
The mousse texture is lightweight and glides across the skin as well as being extremely soothing and hydrating although that isn't specified as a treatment of the cream.
The shine control technology makes the skin feel like it's primed and a flawless surface ready for the day or to apply makeup.
I'd highly recommend this product to all skin types as it's definitely an asset to my skincare collection despite it being described to suit 'oily skin types'.
My skin has been calm, hydrated and ever so soft since I've been using this cream for around a fourtnight. I've been enjoying it's results so much that I'd recommended popping into your local PoundStretcher ASAP to make sure you can grab one for the bargain of £1.

THE PET HUT HAUL
20.3.16
Since Tom and I got Arla we've been kind of obsessed with buying Pet products from toys, chews, harness and of course coats and jackets for our lil' pup.
My favourite place to get Pet related things is The Pet Hut, which if you didn't know is inside PoundStretcher stores!
Even if the store doesn't say 'The Pet Hut' on the logo banner, they always stock The Pet Hut's items, like my local store in Stamford.
So don't worry if you think your local PoundStretcher doesn't have The Pet Hut, it will!
I buy from The Pet Hut regularly because of their amazing variety of products for puppies and dogs but also because the price is unbeatable, you get so much for your money.
So, I thought I'd share my little The Pet Hut Haul with you guys, so you can see what I picked up and what you can get for your pets for great, great prices!
1. Dog Lead Hooks - £2.99
If you have a dog you'll know about the collection of leads and harnesses you'll have and how irritating it is that you lose them all the time - well I do.
When I saw this 'Dog's Lead' Hook in PoundStretcher for only £2.99 I had to have it, as it's not only adorable but extremely functional too.
We've popped it in on the back of our pantry door where we hang all Arla's coats, leads and harness'. It's so handy! |
2. Easter Egg for Dogs - £1.99
As doggies can't have human chocolate, when I saw this and as Easter is just around the corner I instantly bought two, one for Arla and one for her best frenchie friend, Boo.
What a lovely idea!
It didn't last long however, Arla loved it.
I'll have to stock up on some more.
3. Padded Dog Harness - £2.99
Arla is a pug, which means buying harness' can be quite tricky.
As pugs are a barrel like shape (sorry Arla), their heads, neck and body are practically the same shape, so sometime finding a harness can be quite difficult.
Luckily, she's still a puppy but the other problem with that is sometimes the difference between small and medium can be huge.
We found these really amazing quality dog harnesses in PoundStretcher's The Pet Hut, for only £2.99.
As she's growing we don't want to spend a fortune on harness' if she's going to grow out of them, so £2.99 is perfect!
This harness also adjusts and should last Arla a long, long while!
4. Food Tin Lids - 99p
Again, something probably only doggy parents can appreciate; the annoyance of the opened pet food tin, stinking and leaking everywhere.
Panic not, pop down to The Pet Hut and grab yourself these lifesavers for 99p.
I say no more.
5. Coats & Jumpers - from £1.99
I first picked up these two jumpers before I collected Arla at 8 Weeks and for a few months they were still too big despite being the smallest size.
They now fit her perfectly and she wears them practically daily (which you'll have noticed if you watch my Weekly Vlogs on my YouTube Channel).
They're not only a bargain at £1.99 each, compared with the like of Pets at Home's prices but great knitted quality - and something doggy owners with again appreciate - have harness holes...
Hallelujah!
This adorable Hooded Parka also fits Arla perfectly and was only £3.99!
Again with a harness hole is ideal for winter walkes with a dog like Arla who isn't fond of rain or water, keeps her warm and ever-so fashionable too!
I cannot fault The Pet Hut's variety and affordability and will forever be my favourite place to stop off at and grab Arla some goodies without breaking the bank.
If you didn't know about PoundStretcher's Pet selection or The Pet Hut, definitely pop in store and be sure to let me know what goodies you find!

MAKEUP MUST HAVES WITH GEORGE
16.3.16
George is a brand we forget about, especially for makeup!
The supermarket beauty collections always seem to slip our minds.
Well, in this post I've going to share with you 12 Must Have Beauty Products, whether it's your starter kit or 12 product you really should add to your extensive makeup collection, from George.
Yes, George at ASDA.
These 12 George Beauty Products are the perfect kit for all beauty looks, allowing you to create an everyday or evening look with the choice of 12 different beauty products, and everything you need for your makeup.
What's even better is all 12 of these products can be yours for Only £49.
Yes, under £50 for all 12 Beauty Products.
Amazing.
£7.00
Napa (if you've not tried it before) is an amazing brand exclusive to ASDA with a range of skincare, beauty and bath & shower products too.
They're really high quality products for affordable prices, I'd highly recommend giving them a try.
I love the packaging of this product, it comes in a long thin tube perfect for travel, with a precise pointed applicator to ensure you get the right amount of product and don't waste any.
It comes out in a strange cream like gel that I've never seen in a primer before but once blended hides your fine lines and pores leaving the most perfect soft and baby skin like base ready for your to apply your foundation onto for the flawless long lasting finish.
£7.00
This is your Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream affordable, high street equivalent that actually smells amazing, unlike the 8 Hour Cream.
Ideal for use at night before you go to bed to hydrate, soothe and moisturise those dry areas and areas in need of a bit of TLC.
It coats the skin like a oil but comes out in the same consistency and colouring as the 8 Hour Cream in a brown coloured gel, once blended turns to an oil.
However, unlike the 8 Hour Cream this isn't suitable for use on the lips, so I will have to keep my 8 Hour Cream for that. But if Nspa, change that aspect of it and it was able to be used on the lips, it really would replace Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream.
£3.50
When I tried this product in store I fell in love!
It's a creamy, liquid highlighter consistency that blends into the skin beautifully leave a flattering illuminating subtle glitter glow.
You can even use this product over a foundation as a liquid highlighter if you wanted as well.
It's light weight too, so you don't have to worry about the heavy finish of your foundation if you use a high coverage base on top, as this product is soft and weightless.
The packaging itself is fine, it's not the most beautifully packaged item but the product fills the packaging and you really get every penny that you've paid for in the tube.
It also has great staying power, as I wore this product all day and by the end of it the illuminating glow was still very much there.
£6.00
Firstly, a £6.00 foundation with a lid and a pump.
Other beauty brands, please take note!
Another Matte Finish Foundation, which if you wanted a different finish, try mixing it in with a bit of the George Illuminating Primer.
This foundation I have is slightly too dark for me, in No.4 Honey however if I blend it down my neck give me the perfect tan and glow for an evening makeup look.
This foundation Matte but very hydrating, it doesn't feel like a thick paste on the skin and doesn't absorb quickly or crumble and cling to your dry areas.
£3.50
The initial consistency of this product straight out of the tube reminds me of the MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation, however I find it easier to blend and when you work it in with your fingers, it really gently coats the skin and give it a radiance boost and subtle finish.
It doesn't have as much coverage as the Super Boost Foundation and I would definitely use this more for everyday looks.
This is a Matte Foundation so if you prefer a more dewey finish to your base, I'd recommend mixing this foundation in with the George Illuminating Primer which will give your a base with the best of both worlds, and an illuminating finish too.
Plus, this foundation smells amazing!
£4.00
This isn't your concealer if you love high coverage, however if you like to brighten and conceal your under eyes, this is the concealer that really gives your skin that awake boost you need, as well as it being a creamy, bendable concealer your can work with for that flawless finish.
£3.00
I've never ever thought of buying a blemish concealer or adding it to my makeup routine let alone my collection!
However, this blemish concealer isn't their normal chalky, rough consistency it's creamy and exactly the same product as the Primark Foundation Stick (which I love).
It gives you the creamy consistency to blend but the right amount of coverage to cover your blemish you might not get from your creamy applicator concealer that you mainly use for brightening, allowing your to really hide those sneaky spots.
£3.00
I've tried the Younique 3D Fibre Lash which is over £20 and you really don't need to bother spending the money, instead just pop to your local ASDA and £3.00 later you'll have the exact same product for only £3.00.
and it's rose gold packaging, I mean what else do you need?
Coating your lashes in mascara with fibres to define and emphasis your natural lashes for the false lash effect.
£3.00
The perfect mascara for your night out, which you can use with the 3D Fibre Lash Mascara for the full 3D defined effect, or on it's own to give you those wow lashes.
A huge thick brush with jet black mascara to give you the ideal night time lashes.
£2.00
Probably my favourite brow product I've ever tried.
I never really saw the need for brow gels especially coloured one and thought the idea was pretty naff.
However, I'll hold my hands up as I'm completely and utterly wrong.
This product has changed my makeup routine completely, for the past 3 Weeks I've been using this product, and this product only to do my brows.
Words I never thought I would say as a brow addict.
This product allows you to groom, colour and set your brows in place even catching the little hairs you didn't even know you had to give you the perfect natural looking brow.
I adore The Tamer.
£4.00
Firstly, this George Matte Lippy has great packaging that I love.
It's got the push/click feature so you can open it with one hand, and you can also ensure it's not going to pop open in your favourite handbag and graffiti the lining.
As Matte Lipstick go, I would say this isn't Matte as MAC Standards go with the likes of Ruby Woo not moving anywhere in a hurry.
This is more of a Satin Finish if you want to compare to MAC (if you even can with a £4.00 lipstick).
But don't be fooled by price, the pigmentation of this berry toned lipstick is gorgeous and would look fabulous with any makeup look or skin tone.
£3.00
This is your everyday, nude gloss perfect for popping on in a rush or perfecting the perfect daily look.
It's a 'your lips but better' shade with the right amount of pigment and gloss that's not sticky or over glittery.
The packaging on this product isn't the best but for this quality lip gloss for £3.00?
I can sure compromise on the packaging.
So, that is my George Makeup Must Haves.
The 12 amazing items I would really recommend popping in your basket during your next grocery shop and giving them a try. As I ensure you'll be pleasantly surprises.
It really will make George a real contender in your future beauty purchases.

#RUNFORJACK
13.3.16
This isn't one of my normal blog post...
However it's one of the most important ones I'll post.
Jack was a very close friend of my brother and his friends.
Sadly, Jack passed away last year.
Jack's family and friends are now raising to thank, support and offer great appreciation for the Addenbrooke's Hospital PICU Unit in Cambridge who did everything they could for Jack on his last days, and we're there for Jack's family and friends during the toughest 4 days of their lives.
I'd like to reach out to you, and ask if you could take 5 minutes to read the passage bellow and maybe take a second to place a donation big or small on the #RunforJack Just Giving Page, to support my Brother and his friend in their #RunforJack 50 Mile / 2 Day Challenge in memory of Jack and to raise money for the PICU Ward at Addenbrookes where Jack spent his last days with his family and friends.
Thank you.
Last year Jack Thompson, 14 from Gretton, Northamptonshire
was admitted to Addenbrookes Hospital on 8th March 2015.
Jack had an unexplained cardiac arrest on the 8th March and never recovered.
His life support was switched off on the 12th March with his family and friends
surrounding him.
During Jacks 4 Days in Addenbrookes Hospital it was clear the staff on the PICU Ward
were incredibly dedicated, and went above and beyond all day, every day
which helped make and unbearable time a little more bearable.
They truly are angels in disguise.
Everyone who loved Jack knew that the treatment he received was completely
world class and have no doubt, no matter where he was the outcome would
have been the same. The love and dedication the staff showed was outstanding
not just to Jack but to his family and friends as well.
For all these reasons Jack’s good friends; Harry Boon, Tyler Sharp and Daniel Pallett
are aiming to fundraise for Addenbrookes PICU Unit to thank, support and show
their appreciation for all the help and care shown to Jack and his family and friends
during those difficult 4 Days.
Harry, Tyler and Daniel hope that their 50 Mile / 2 Day Challenge will also
provide the PICU Unit with the funds to provide the ward with items they don’t
already have available; From medical equipment that isn’t government funded
to DVD Players and Playstations for children and families on the ward, helping
make the tough days a little bit easier. The sponsorship money raised through
the boys chosen fundraising event is to give brighter moments to difficult times.
